Son of Agathocles of Crannon and his first wife Nicaea (daughter of Antipater) and father of Arsinoe I, who was Ptolemy II Philadelphus' first wife. His third wife was Arsinoe II, sister and later third wife of Ptolemy II Philadelphus. He died in 281 BC in the battle of Corupedium, after being defeated by Seleucus I Nicator.
