Son of Attalus and Antiochid. He had four children with Apollonis, among which Eumenes II Soter and Attalus II. He succeeded to Eumenes I and during the period 238-227 BC he fought against Antiochus Hierax. At the same period he confronted successfully the Galatian invasion in Asia Minor and was granted the royal title. In 209 BC he allied with Rome against Philip V. He was succeeded by his son Eumenes II Soter.
