Son of Demetrius I Poliorcetes and Ptolemais and brother of Antigonus II Gonatas from a different mother. He succeeded his father and in 227 BC he initiated a campaign in Caria. In 224-223 BC he organized and founded the Greek League. He was succeeded by Philip V, who was grandson of Antigonus II and son of Demetrius II.
