 Son of Ptolemy I Soter and Eurydice (daughter of Antipater). He was the second husband of Arsinoe II, daughter of Ptolemy I Soter and Berenice. He ascended the throne of Macedonia, after assassinating Seleucus I Nicator in 281 BC, after the victory of the latter at Corupedium over Lysimachus.
