His first wife was Apame I, daughter of Spitamenis. They had two children, Antiochus I Soter and Achaeus the Elder. His second wife Stratonice, daughter of Demetrius Poliorcetes, bore him Phila II, niece and wife of Antigonus Gonatas. In 312 BC he conquered Babylonia. He was assassinated in 281 BC and was succeeded by his son Antiochus.
