Son of Antiochus II Theos and Berenice. He was married to Laodice II, who gave him Seleucus III Soter and Antiochus III Megas. His sister Laodice married Mithradates II of Pontus. He succeeded his father and in 246 BC he confronted Ptolemy III Euergetes during the 3rd Syrian war. In 241 BC he fought against his brother Antiochus Hierax, who dominated Asia Minor. He was succeeded by his son Seleucus III Soter.
