One of the four decorative relief plaques on Augustus' Ara Pacis (Altar of Peace) in Rome. Tellus - the Roman nursing-mother deity - is shown seated between two Aurae (Zephyrs), with two babies on her lap. The mythological subject and artistic style recall Hellenic models. Late 1st century B.C.
