The stone enclosures of Dimini do not seem to follow a preconceived plan, but rather to meet the practical needs of its inhabitants. These were probably linked to a gradual development of the settlement which made it necessary to satisfy the housing needs of the population which was constantly growing during the Late Neolithic (5300-4800 BC). The exact function of the enclosures remains questionable (for defense, for work purposes or to demarcate the limits of the settlement?).
