The Foundation of the Hellenic World participated in the exhibition ARCHEOVIRTUAL 2009 with a presentation of the Ancient Agora of Athens in the Virtual Cinema system. The exhibition took place in Paestum (Poseidonia) in Italy, 19-22 November 2009, as part of the 12th International Mediterranean Exhibition for Archaeological Tourism– XII Edizione Internazionale Borsa Mediterranea del Turismo Archeologico.
The presentation-tour at the Ancient Agora of Athens by the members of FHW Sakis Gaitatzis and Thanos Sideris received, apart from the 1st prize of the exhibition, extremely applauding comments by the local and national Mass Media, while the public’s attendance, particularly young people, was impressive.
Dr. Thanos Sideris, FHW’s Head of the History and Archaeology Department, presented FHW’s work about the archaeological virtual reality applications at the Workshop Archeovirtual “Musei Virtuali, Come è andata a finire?”. Creative communication and the conclusions of the meeting led to a memorandum of cooperation between FHW and the Institute of Technologies Applied to Cultural Heritage of the National Council of Researches (ITABC-CNR). The two organizations inaugurate their cooperation with a joint effort to create a Network of Excellence for virtual reality museums.
