For the sixth successive year the Foundation of the Hellenic World participated in the Thessaloniki International Trade Fair which took place from the 8th to the 16th of September 2007 at the exhibition centre of HELEXPO. FHW was hosted at Kiosk 8 of the General Secretariat of Research and Technology of the Ministry of Development.

The visitors of FHW’s kiosk had the opportunity to learn about our cultural heritage and to take part in virtual journeys through the Virtual Reality system “Virtual Cinema”. The “Virtual Cinema”, which was presented for the third successive year in the International Trade Fair, is a large bright screen, which shows, with the help of stereoscopic glasses, the Foundation’s Virtual Reality productions. This year, for the first time, the visitors had the opportunity to watch FHW’s new production “Interactive Tour at the Ancient Agora of Athens”, which is presented at the “Tholos”, the new Virtual Reality theatre of Hellenic Cosmos which was inaugurated in December 2006. At the same time, they “traveled” to ancient Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games, through the programme “A Walk Through Ancient Olympia”.

Apart from the virtual journeys to Antiquity, the visitors of the kiosk had the opportunity to learn the history and culture of our country through the Foundation’s printed and electronic publications. They were informed about the innovative programmes and the activities of the Foundation and saw its interesting and original productions (books, CD-ROMs, film productions).

Our presence at Thessaloniki International Trade Fair can be characterized once more as very successful, since visitors from all over North Greece had the opportunity to come into contact with FHW’s work.
