The Foundation of the Hellenic World participated dynamically in the “Week of Science and Technology” which was organized by the General Secretariat of Research and Technology at the Zappeion Mansion from the 30th of June to the 7th July 2005. There we had the opportunity to present to the visitors of the exhibition interactive applications, digital shows and interactive Virtual Reality programmes at the new system “Virtual Cinema”.
The “Virtual Cinema” traveled for the first time out of the cultural centre Hellenic Cosmos and gave the visitors of the kiosk the opportunity, wearing stereoscopic glasses, to watch on an impressive screen Virtual Reality presentations.
At the same time, FHW organized at the Zappeion Mansion a meeting entitled “Cultural Heritage and Digital Culture”. The speakers’ panel included the Foundation’s Managing Director Mr. Dimitris Efraimoglou, the Heads of the 3D Graphics and Animation Department and Virtual Reality Department, Mr. Vangelis Christodoulou and Mr. Sakis Gaitatzis respectively, Mr. Thanos Sideris and Mr. Nikos Varsos, as well as the Head of the Foundation’s Project Coordination Department Mr. George Giannoulis.
The Greek Prime Minister, Mr. Kostantinos Karamanlis, the Minister of Development, Mr. Dimitris Sioufas, and many members of the government visited the Foundation’s kiosk. After their virtual tour to ancient Olympia and Miletus they departed enthusiastic with their visit.
