Triclinium: area of reception and/or dining room of the Roman, and later of the Byzantine villas and palaces. The ground plan was rectangular and at its narrow side at least one arch was formed. A semicircular pew, known as stibadion or accubitum was built perimetrically, whereas in front of it there was a semicircular table, known as sigma.
