Herakleios: Emperor (610-641). Able general, he managed to confront succesfully the Persian invasion but he saw the rise and the expansion of the new threat, the Arabs. Herakleios was also great administrator with reformations in the fields of economics, army organization and public administration. But he was anable in religious matters as he failed to give an end to the non-stop dispute between the hereticals and the Orthodox.
