Giustiniani Longo, Giovanni: Member of the famous Genoese family of merchants, the Giustiniani, a defender of Constantinople during its last siege by the Turks in 1453. He fought bravely alongside Constantine XI Palaiologos. He was wounded on the last day of the siege of Constantinople (29 May) and died at Galata or on the island of Chios in June 1453.
