Mouzalon George: Regent of the empire of Nicaea after the death of Theodore II Laskaris. The aristocracy treated him with hostility mainly because of his humble origins. In 1258 he was assassinated on Michael VIII Palaiologos' command by the Latin mercenaries of the imperial troops.
