The Vestal Virgins were priestesses of the goddess Vesta, the Roman counterpart of the Hellenic goddess Hestia.

According to the traditional legend, there were seven kings of Rome between 753 and 509 BC. Four of these were Romans (Titus Tatius, Numa Pompilius, Tullus Hostilius and Ancus Martius), and three were Etruscans (Tarquinius, Servius Tullius and Tarquinius Superbus).
