In this publication for children the leading character is an orange snail, which does not like its color and seeks desperately ways to change it. As it moves along it "gathers" characteristics from other creatures it meets in the great field: the red color of a lilac, the feet of a centipede, the small bell from the neck of a cow, the wings of a bluebottle, the shovel that an ant carries, two springs that allow it to jump like a frog, the powerful beak of a woodpecker. With all these diverse elements on its back it continues its way until its meeting with the moon allows it to discover its true self and be free from all these superfluous burdens. The snail learns in the end that every creature on the Earth is unique and useful for what it is and then its bright smile becomes more intense than the sun itself.
